Rama: Europe for Albanians remains a dream, national amate, political mission unchanged

Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama has declared that Europe remains the largest peace project, co-existence and freedom in modern history, stressing that the European idea was born on the ruins of World War II to build a continent without conflict and division.
During activities organised in Tirana for the European Day footnote, attended by European Union Ambassador to Albania Silvio Gonzato, Rama said that building a borderless Europe and without hostility among peoples required extraordinary vision and confidence.
“Europe was built on a blood sea after World War II, but managed to create a space where people no longer live against each other, but along with each other”, Rama said.
According to him, May 9th symbolizes not only the creation of the European Union but Europe itself as the space of human freedom, peace, and dignity.
The Albanian prime minister warned that Europe and the world are facing difficult challenges, but added that European history clearly shows that isolation, fear and pessimism are not the solution.
“This is not an easy time for Europe and the world, but right now we need to remember that closure and loss of trust in European values are the wrong way”, he said, Euronews. al, broadcast Periscope.
Speaking of Albania's European road, Rama stressed that EU integration remains a strategic goal and a national trust for Albanians, recalling the period of isolation the country has passed.
“We know better than many others what isolation and life behind walls” mean, Rama said, adding that the support of Albanian citizens for European integration continues to remain among the highest in the region.
He also stressed that the European integration process and related reforms have become an irreversible national project for Albania.
At the end of his speech, Rama also referred to the recent international developments in Tirana, citing the organisation of a global event as the presumption of the World Law Congress, which he described as evidence of Albania's new international transformation and role. /Periscope/
