NYT: That was Israel's crazy plan targeting Ahmadide.

A plan developed by Israel envisioned the deployment of former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadeen, as the country's new leader following Ali Khamenei's assassination and other senior Iranian officials in late February, broadcast Periscop.
Taking power from Ahmadinejad was one of the stages of Israel's envisioned multiphase war plan, the report said, citing American officials informed of the plan, the paper reported on Wednesday The New York Times.
The first phase of the plan was the US-Israel air campaign that killed senior Iranian officials, including supreme leader Khamenei, along with one Target mobilization of the Kurdish forces.
Israel believed that conquest and attacks would destabilise the regime, with political pressure and damage to key infrastructure that would cause its collapse. Later, an alternative <x0 government"would be able to take over, the report said. The Mossad spy agency refused to comment.

The newspaper “SETimes” said that an attack reported on Ahmadinedi's residence during the first round of war, which was initially assumed to target the former leader himself, was in fact directed at the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard officers who implemented his house arrest imposed by the regime.
According to"Times", Ahmadinejadi consulted on the plan, though his way of recruiting remains unknown.
The attack managed to free the former president, but injured him during this process, after which he was reportedly disappointed by the plan. He hasn't been seen since then and his location is unknown. /Periscope
