Murder after disagreement in Gjakova, suspect surrenders to police

According to police, the victim was originally sent for treatment at the main Centre of Family Medicine, while later transferred to the General Hospital in Gjakova, where he had passed away.

The case is suspected to have occurred around 2:20 p.m. on the “Queen Teuta”, following a disagreement between two middle-aged people, where the victim was attacked by sharp means from the suspect, who later left the scene.

Gjakova, May 5, 2026

Today, in the early hours of the morning, the Regional Police Directorate in Gjakova has reportedly been sent for medical treatment as a result of injuries caused by a sharp tool.

Initially, the injured was sent to the main Centre of Family Medicine (QKMF), and then transferred to the General Hospital in Gjakova, where he had passed away.

Based on initial investigations, it is suspected that around 2:20 p.m., following a disagreement on the “Queen Teute” in Gjakova, the victim was attacked by sharp means by another adult person, who later left the scene.

The relevant police units have reacted immediately, leaving at the scene and, in consultation with the State Prosecutor, the case “Vrasje” has been initiated.

As a result of investigative actions, two suspected persons have been identified. One of them, with the initial Q. S., about 9:45 p.m., has been using himself in the police station and, at the state prosecutor's decision, has been banned for 48 hours.

Currently, in full co-ordination with the State Attorney, police are taking all necessary operational and investigative actions to fully whiteen the circumstances of this case.
