Korca Hospital suspends doctor allegedly sexually molested 21-year-old

In a statement to the media, the hospital says it is co-operating with law enforcement agencies for following all necessary procedures.

“Considering this an extremely sensitive and serious issue, Regional Hospital Korca expresses the firm attitude that any claims or behavior that violates the dignity, integrity and security of patients is unacceptable and should be addressed with full institutional and legal responsibilities.

The institution has immediately launched internal administrative verifications, while any procedure in line with legislation in force and results of the investigation of competent organs will be followed correctly. For this reason, up to a decision by competent organs, it has imposed a doctor's suspension from his” functions, it is said in response.

“In respect of the investigative process and to ensure its integrity, the Korca Regional Hospital cannot provide further details on the case at this stage. Patient protection, professional ethics and health care delivery standards remain non-negotiable priorities for our institutions”.

A 21-year-old has made a statement about sexual harassment to doctor Nunka. According to information, 21-year-old was sent to emergency because of stomach and vomit pains, and after medical examinations, she has been set to conduct interventions for the appendix.

According to the girl's statement, the 72-year-old doctor, as her surgeon, has sexually harassed her by touching her to intimate parts with the claim of medical control.

The 21-year-old is located at the Korca Hospital, while she has been taken away by Korca police, where the doctor's association and arrest were later taken.

Nunka has been previously arrested by Korca police for bribery, while sources from the investigation group suggest the case is still in the preliminary phase of the investigation, and the doctor was taken from the Korca hospital where he was at work, accompanied by police forces, and immediately taken to the Korca station for questioning.

In her denouncing, the 21-year-old woman who lives in Germany and had recently come to Korca and had undergone the Apendic operation, has suggested that the doctor for two cases tried to kiss her and then touch her in intimate places.

The young woman added that she couldn't have film evidence because the doctor always asked her to take off the phone when she entered the treatment room.

It is expected to be decided by the Korca prosecution if Nunka is in custody to the extent of security or to be pursued in a free state, reports A2 CNN
