Iranian Parliament: The enrichment of uranium is non-negotiable

Iran's Parliament has declared that the country's nuclear programme and uranium enrichment will not be part of international negotiations.
The statement was made by Commission for National Security and Foreign Policy spokesman in the Iranian Parliament Ebrahim Rezaei, who quoted Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation head Mohammed Eslami as saying.
According to him, nuclear “technology is not on the agenda of negotiations” and enriching uranium “is not negotiable”.
During the National Security Commission meeting, Iranian MPs stressed the need to protect nuclear facilities and preserve Iran's achievements in the atomic programme.
According to Iranian media, some members of the commission named “useless” the country's participation in the Treaty for Nonproliferation of Nuclear Arms (NPT).
The statements come at a moment of high tension in the Middle East, and as diplomatic clashes between Iran and Western countries continue for Tehran's nuclear programme. /Panorama
