Conjufca: Requesting equal and fair EU treatment, starting membership negotiations

Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca has declared that Kosovo requires equal and fair treatment from the European Union, stressing that the country is willing to move forward within a meritocratic process.
According to him, this process implies Kosovo receiving candidate status and starting negotiations for EU membership.
“also, we want to have an equal and fair approach from the EU, we like Kosovo are ready to move and advance within this framework of the process based on merit. At the same time, what we think is what this process really means, based on credit, is for Kosovo to have candidate status and start negotiations for EU membership”, Conjufca said before the start of the EU member states' foreign ministers' meeting with their counterparts from the Western Balkans in Brussels on Monday.
Konjufca has said that the first step towards that goal is the EU questionnaire.
He also reiterated Russia's influence on the security miniming not only of the Balkans, but also of Europe.
The “what is actually undermining the security architecture of the Western Balkans, but all of Europe, is Russia's bad influence in our region, and therefore I think a united and enlarged European Union should always be seen from the perspective of the strategic need”, he said.
For dialogue with Serbia, Konjufca stressed that it must end with mutual recognition.
“As for dialogue with Serbia, Kosovo has always been and will always be constructive in dialogue, but dialogue must end with mutual recognition. Let's start with the questionnaire, this is the first step. I expect with much optimism concrete results”, he has indicated.
