Today, starting at 11:30, the Central Election Commission will hold its first meeting after scheduled June 7th 2026 for holding early elections for the Kosovo Assembly.
The agenda will be to set electoral schedules and to approve the budget plan.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has indicated that with the task plan, the CEC regulates the issues on which the entire election process is built and dealing with voters, political subjects and observers.
Thus, the deadline for political parties to form coalitions and declare no participation in elections is set here; the deadline for political subjects to certified and hand over the list of candidates; and the election campaign period. Also, by means of this plan, the CEC sets the time for voter registration outside Kosovo, voting through mail and diplomatic representation, as well as registering voters with special needs. Part of this plan is the setting of deadlines for accrediting observers and media”, Elez said.
According to him, since these are early elections“their organisation is done with short deadlines and that the CEC will adjust these deadlines as needed to comply with the circumstances.
Also, Elez has indicated that at this meeting, the CEC is expected to approve the budget planning needed to organise elections.
“Viti 2026 is not an election year, and that means that in the annual budget of the CEC shared with the budget law, there are no means planned for early elections. Under such circumstances, as it was done in the past, The CEC addresses the Government of Kosovo at the request for the means needed for covering expenditures”, he said.
