CEC: On May 6th, voter registration begins outside Kosovo for post vote and diplomatic representation

The Central Election Commission has announced that the voter registration process outside Kosovo will begin on May 6th and end on May 17th 2026.
For 12 days, all Kosovo citizens living abroad will be able to apply online to register, vote by post or diplomatic representation.
CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has said it is in the will of voters to choose the way of voting, whether it is diplomatic representation or via mail.
“During this 12-day period (6 May 17th May 2026), all Kosovo citizens living abroad can apply to register as voters outside Kosovo. At the moment of the census, voters can be determined individually for one of the three ways of voting: (1) to vote physically in one of Kosovo's diplomatic representatives; (2) to send texting via mail to one of the mail boxes opened by the CEC outside Kosovo or (3) to send the ballot to the CEC mailbox in Kosovo”, Elez said.
Furthermore, according to Elez, voters who will be registered to vote in diplomatic representation will be able to vote on June 6th, meanwhile, voters via mail can vote from May 25th to June 6th.
After last year's elections, the CEC has adjusted various issues involving voting outside Kosovo. The CEC has placed the minimum number of 50 registered voters as criteria for organising the vote in a certain diplomatic representation. If the number of voters registered for voting in a diplomatic representation is below 50, the physical vote on that diplomatic representation is not organised and registered voters will automatically switch to voter status via mail and will be announced by the CEC. Meanwhile, for citizens registered to vote by mail, The CEC, as it has done in the recent local and parliamentary elections, will send through the mail package with a ballot box”, Elesi indicated.
According to Elez, it is the legal obligation for the CEC, so that the name of any voter registered to vote outside Kosovo, will be taken away from the voter list distributed in the polls on Election Day in Kosovo.
