In the social media posts Thursday, Trump said Merz was doing a terrible job” and there were “problems of all types”, including those in immigration and energy. Trump has also suggested the withdrawal of American troops from Italy and Spain.
The US has a considerable military presence in Germany, with more than 36,000 active troops assigned to bases across the country since last December.
