AKR Initiative won't participate in elections

The Central Election Commission has indicated that the New Kosovo Alliance (AKR) and the Social Democrat Initiative will not participate in the upcoming elections in Kosovo.
According to the CEC's announcement, by the end of the official deadline on May 7th at 24:00, these two political subjects have officially announced no participation in the election process.
“On the list of parties that have confirmed they will not compete in the elections are a total of nine political subjects, while the AKR and the Social Democrat Initiative are among the best-known parties that have decided not to be part of the” electoral race.
According to the CEC, political parties that have announced non-participation in elections are: 1. Democratic Unity Party; 2. National Ball of Kosovo; 3. The Civic Movement Vatra; 4. Union for Change Anamorawa; 5. Justice Party; 6. Srpski Narodni Pokret; 7. Democratic Reform Party; 8. New Kosovo coalition; and 9. Social Democrat Initiative”.
The deadline for announcing participation, non-participating or forming coalitions has been open from 1 May to 7 May 2026, and has been worth 53 political parties registered in the Republic of Kosovo. /Periscope
