Accreditation agency accepted as US accredit authority

The Kosovo Agency for Accreditation has been officially accepted in the United States as “accrediting authority”, with a decision by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), valid for seven years, respectively, until December 31st 2033.
According to the announcement issued by the AKA, the CHEA Board of Directors has approved the recommendation for recognising the Kosovo agency as US accredit authority.
With this decision, as the agency has announced, Kosovo currently becomes the first and only state in Europe to enjoy such status in the United States.
This US recognition comes less than a year after the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation was registered at the European Register for High Education Insurance (EQAR), making Kosovo the only state in the Western Balkans with this status. This decision comes as a result of a broad and careful assessment process and constitutes a clear testimony to the undertaken reforms, institutional professionalism and continued commitment of the AKA to ensuring quality in higher education”, the report said.
