The candidate proposed by the majority, Feride Rushiti, has been seen leaving the Parliament building immediately after failing the second attempt to start voting.
As in the first round, the absence of opposition deputies has made it impossible to reach the number of 80 deputies present in the hall, the condition necessary for the voting prosecution.
The co-ordinated boycott of opposition parties has left power without necessary numbers.
Despite two consecutive failures within the day, Parliament Speaker Albulen Haxhiu has not surrendered. It has announced the completion of the work for this part of the day, setting a new deadline.
The next “Attempt to elect the president is expected to be held today at 7:18x1>, Haxhiu has announced, giving political subjects time for recent consultations.
