The British Justice Ministry figures show 1,865 people from this Balkan country were sent to prison from January to September last year.
In total, there were 75,289 persons of all nationalities, including detained and convicted criminals, were put in jail until September 2025, according to Justice Ministry statistics.
Albanian citizens consistently make up the highest percentage of foreign citizens in U.K. prisons about 9% of all imprisoned foreign criminals.
An analysis of the “The Sun on Sunday” shows that in the first 3 months of this year, 58 Albanians were given sentences of at least one year in prison for crimes ranging from drug offences to smuggling of people.
Foreign citizenship violations who receive 12 months or more sentences are automatically handed over to expulsion orders after being imprisoned.
New laws to be adopted by the Labusist Party will cause some prisoners to be deported since they have passed a third of their sentence, down from half of the sentence currently serving.
Since the 2024 elections, the Labour Party says more than 58,500 illegal immigrants and foreign criminals have fled or deported from the country.
The UK has a transfer agreement with Albania, meaning that every Albanian sentenced to 4 years or more sentences by a United Kingdom court will be sent back to its country of origin to serve the sentence.
A spokesman for the Justice Ministry said: “This government has increased the deportation of foreign offenders by more than 8,700 left since July 2024 a 32% increase compared to the previous 19 months. Furthermore, we are changing the law so that foreign prisoners can be deported earlier than ever before. ”/Periscope
