PDK: Government boycotted citizens in crisis, request emergency package to cope with price hikes

The Democratic Party of Kosovo has expressed deep concern for as it said without responsibility and the lack of seriousness of the Government of Kosovo in the face of the serious economic crisis that is hitting every family in the country.

At the extraordinary session of the Kosovo Assembly, where it was discussed increasing the price of oil, services, taxes and inflation, the prime minister, ministers and MPs of the parliamentary majority boycotted a considerable part of it. The move constitutes an open disregard for citizens who are facing increasing cost of living and growing poverty.

“Today, the price of oil in Kosovo has reached 2 euros and 3 cents, reflecting directly on the rise of prices of basic products and services. Instead of quick response and concrete measures, citizens are facing silence and lack of institutional action.

Even when he returned to the session, the prime minister chose to use time for word games and party interests, instead of offering concrete solutions to ease the burden of citizens”.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo estimates that this approach of the Government is not only unacceptable, but also harmful to the country's economic and social stability”, said among other things in the reaction of this political subject.

The PDK simultaneously calls on the Government to urgently draft and implement an emergency package for coping with the economic crisis, which should include concrete measures to reduce the financial burden on citizens, support for families and businesses.
