Merz declared after Trump warned German troop reduction

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in short communication to the media has stressed the importance of “reliable transatlantic co-operation”. His statement comes amid a continuing clash with US President Donald Trump, following the tense situation in Iran.

During a visit to a military training centre in northern Germany, Merz stated that in the particularly troubled “times” Germany is being led by a clear strategic “busage”.

This compass remains oriented towards a united NATO and a reliable transatlantic partnership,”, the German Chancellor said.
