The organization points out that to cherish the voice of people who live far from their families is not a luxury but an essential need to maintain relationships with children, parents, and spouses. According to the OVL KLA, this measure is not only a financial burden, but also a moral and inhuman blow against former fighters and their families.
The organisation expresses its indignation at the denial of the basic right to stay close to families until a final decision, and promises to keep crying out for their protection.

To cherish the voice of people who live with homesickness is a painful injustice.
Any phone call to them is not a luxury but a spiritual breath, a single contact with children, parents, and wives who are cut off from the heart.
To make it difficult, too, is to weigh the burden of separation on their own and on their families.
This is not just a financial burden, but a direct blow to human and family ties, at a time when they most need moral support. Limiting contact with loved ones is inhuman and unacceptable.
O V L The KLA expresses deep concern and indignation over the unjust treatment being made to our former fighters in The Hague. In addition to continuing denial of the basic right to stay close to their families until a final decision, we are now facing another injustice, twice the cost of telephone communication.
O V L The KLA will continue to speak out for each fellow warrior, for they are neither alone nor today, nor ever.
