US War Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff General Randy George to resign and retire immediately.
That is how they have suggested sources known in the CBS News decision.
One of the sources said Hegseth wants someone in this role that will implement President Trump and Hegseth' vision of the military.
The army chief of staff usually serves a four-year term. George was nominated for this position by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the Senate in 2023, which means he would usually have held that position by 2027.
