Vetvendosje Movement MP, Rosette Hajdari, at the extraordinary Kosovo Assembly session, has stressed that the government has intervened where it has been needed to stabilise oil derivative prices, while also criticising the opposition's proposals for the temporary reduction of VAT and excise.
Hajdari said the measures proposed by the opposition are unplanned and do not guarantee real price cuts.
“is thus being proposed the temporary reduction of VAT or excise, subvention of more sensitive sectors including agriculture and production, as well as support for public transportation and more, but without a plan on how to compensate. Let's face it clearly: this may sound good for you in the party, you opposition deputies, but it's economically irresponsible and politically populist. These public revenues are not abstract. These revenues from the state budget are salaries for teachers, doctors, infrastructure investments, support for families and businesses. So the question is very simple: In terms of rising oil prices, carried by inflation due to geopolitical crises, are we ready to tell the citizens that support for families and businesses will be reduced and public services cut for a measure that does not guarantee a real reduction in oil products prices?
Let's get this straight: We as the parliamentary group of the Vetevendosje Movement, with our rule, have intervened where it should. We have formulated the oil market, eliminated unnecessary costs and increased transparency. These are measures that give real and long-term effect“, Hajdari said.
