The Kosovo government is expected today to review the draft law on the provisional measures of basic products in particular cases of market destabilisation today at the planned meeting for 9:30.
According to the agenda, the meeting is expected to have 16 points. Among them is the price issue when the market is unstable. Such a law in the past term -- the one for the ceiling prices -- was overturned by the Constitutional Court.
A new wave of inflation has been launched in Kosovo since February 28th as a consequence of the American-American attacks on Iran began the world-level price of oil.
To influence lowering the price of derivatives, opposition parties have recommended lowering the excise or Tax on Added Value. However, the government has refused.
A remarkable session of the Parliament is expected to take place today, on these very demands of the opposition.
This has been requested by the LDK, with the support of other opposition parties' deputies, PDK and AAK.
The only point of the agenda will be considering a “resolutionfor rising oil prices, lack of government intervention and direct impact on the cost of life, as well as the country's economic stability”.
The session will be held first by 11:00.
LDK deputy chief Jehona Lusshak Sadriu has said executive intervention in the event of price hikes is urgent.
Kosovo's Democratic Order with the support of PDK and AAK deputies has called for extraordinary sessions to increase the oil price. Oil is getting more expensive every day. Prices are rising. Until citizens are getting poorer. And the government? Spectacular. We require immediate action. Transparency. Practical measures. Citizens are not government ATMs! ” has written LDK Parliamentary Group chief Jehona Lushaku.
In order of days at the Government Meeting are the review of the draft law on mandatory health care, the one for Kosovo citizenship, the one for explosives and the one for State Matura.
Also expected are reviews of several other bills, as well as initiatives for an agreement on military-financial co-operation with Turkey.
