Gashi PDK: Citizens have not given Kurt support for the election of president

MP The PDK, Kujtim Gashi, said they are willing to make their contribution to electing the president, but accused Prime Minister Kurti of dragging the process. In a conversation for RTV21, MP Gashi said citizens have not given support to Kurti for electing even the president for whom 80 votes are needed.

The ruling party must initiate meetings for the president, but so far it has not. To PDK is always important to give direction to the country. The elections are insignificant to be taken now, because Kosovo has passed several phases of elections and must give Kosovo stable institutions, taking into account major economic problems, especially in the last five years as the LVV has governed. So far there's no movement. The PDK has the same positions, because we think Kosovo should not lead only a political subject. Even the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo for electing the president has determined that 80 deputies should be present and, to have 80 deputies, there must be agreements, because citizens have not given the mandate to the current prime minister to elect the president himself. Under these circumstances there must be a deal. In that sense, The PDK is ready to make its contribution, even in the past even now.”, Gashi said.

MP Gashi said nobody can force MPs to stay in the hall during the president's vote unless there is a preliminary political agreement. Chief Prime Minister Haxhiu's request to the Constitutional Court called it unnecessary.

“There has been no need at all to apply to the Constitutional Court, because it is clear the MP's mandate, it is clear even in the Constitution. Without a clear agreement on the president's name, of course the PDK has the same positions, because the situation is the same. So the PDK will not become part of the game which the current prime minister is trying to make. We believe Kurt is interested in sending the country to elections.”, Gashi said.
