Following political developments and the failure of the process for electing the president, Kosovo is expected to enter new parliamentary elections, which should be held within the 45-day constitutional deadline.
According to the legal deadlines, taking as the starting point of April 29th, when procedures for implementing constitutional decisions are under way, the new elections should be held as far away as June 7th.
Meanwhile, it is expected that during the following days, the election date will be announced by President Albulen Haxhiu's task adviser.
According to the Constitutional Court's recent act, if MPs fail to elect the president within the set terms, the Assembly is automatically distributed (“ex framework”), paving the way for new elections.
“BE CONSTATIONS that in case the Parliament fails to elect the president within the period specified at point III of the device of this Actation, based on the subgraphy of paragraph 3 of Article 82 [the Assembly] of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, the Assembly is distributed ex transitional ex, and therefore, early elections for the Assembly should be held within forty-five (45) days, just as it is defined with paragraph 2 of Article 66 [Mind] and paragraph 6 of the 26th [Zed] President of the Republic of Kosovo's 86th] Constitution, the Constitutional Republic of Kosovo's decision is said.
