The fraud used the identities of figures known as Austria's Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and ORF exhibitors Armin Wolff and Nadja Bernhard, who promoted these investments in manipulated photos and fake videos. For example, the Federal President is seen guaranteeing investment and saying in video: “don't waste time, act now”.
A monthly payment of 250,000 euros was promised for an initial payment of only 250 euros. Former Federal King Carl Nehammer, professional football player David Alabama, former ski star Hermann Maier, TV presenters Armin Assinger and Mirjam Weichselbraun, and cabarre artist and “Wilkommen Osterreich”, Christoph Grismann, also appeared in manipulated recordings (Deepfake).
“>As you can see, these for good luck are not perfect”, said investigator Alexander Volkel, “but unfortunately, it's still enough for people to believe one version or another and thus be deceived by depositing money on these” platforms, reports the report. TCh, broadcast Periscope.
