Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha, in post to X, wrote:
Today I attended the virtual meeting called by United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, who joined counterparts from over 40 countries to address the urgent need to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz following Iran's closure in the context of the ongoing conflict.
Discussions focused on co-ordinated international efforts, through diplomatic and political means, but not only, to ensure the secure and sustainable reopening of this critical maritime route, which is vital to global energy security and economic stability.
Unity, coordination, and an international approach based on rules are essential. Freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle to be respected.
Albania is willing to co-operate closely with partners and allies to support deespass efforts and contribute to collective initiatives and solutions.
