More than 10,000 American personnel, including sailors and pilots, are involved in the operation, which saw no ship spend the first 24 hours, according to CentCom.
Tens of warships and dozens of planes are also being used by the United States.
Six commercial ships obeyed instructions by US forces to return to re-enter an Iranian port in Oman Bay, she said.
“Blokada is being implemented impartially against ships of all nations entering or leaving Iranian coastal ports and areas, including all Iranian ports in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Bay,” said CentCom, reports Telegraph, broadcast Periscope.
He added that ships passing through Hormuz Strait to and from non-Iranian ports are being supported by American forces.
Despite the Central Command statement, data shows that several US-sponsored ships have been crossing the strait since the blockade was implemented. /Periscope/
