The official announcement reportedly according to initial investigative data and evidence provided to this stage, there is doubt that police officials on March 13th during the exercise of official office have carried out criminal work “duty adoption”.
However, it becomes known that according to initial allegations of police officials in this case, after having previously seized over 100 packs of cigarettes from persons suspected of smuggling inside Kosovo's territory, they allegedly pocketed 24 packs of cigarettes, about 12,500 packs of cigarettes worth about 30,000 euros, while only 84 packs of cigarettes that are suspected of smuggling into Kosovo Customs.
Following investigative actions, a police official has been arrested and with the decision of the Constitutional Prosecutor in Mitrovica has been assigned the detention measure for 48 hours, while four other officials are being investigated in regular procedure.
“The IPK in interest of the investigation and since the nature of the criminal act directly linked to misuse of official office and the integrity of the police official has recommended to the Kosovo Police the suspension of the five police officials involved as suspects in this case”, the statement said.
