“Scened as from an apocalypse movie”, Austrian newspaper on the tragedy where even workers from Kosovo died

A deafening crash destroyed the silence, seconds later panic screams broke out and then sirens were heard: What happened Tuesday afternoon in Vienna's AlsergRund district looked like a scene from an apocalypse movie. Four workers lost their lives in the fatal accident at the construction site. The newspaper “rone” was on the scene and knows [...]
Shortly after 2: 00 p.m., the tragedy occurred in the courtyard of an apartment building in Porzellangas in the 9th district. During concrete works, the structure suddenly failed: The whole wharf, including the molds, collapsed just when five workers were standing on it.

According to firefighters, the newly empty concrete structure collapsed suddenly, burying the men inside. Using concrete and construction components, they pulled the workers down into the abyss, burying them under them. “Construction workers who were in this newly poured concrete facility collapsed along with the” wharf, fire spokesman Martin Hoffman explained.
And then I heard the construction workers screaming. And then the sirens began to fall.
A Local Resident Witnesses Disaster
Eyewitnesses describe dramatic seconds: “Pat an extremely loud thunder, then I heard construction workers screaming. Then the sirens began to fall,” shows a local resident who saw the accident closely.
Firefighters, police, and medical assistants arrived just minutes after the collapse, but the full extent of the tragedy was not yet clear.
A Sad Battle Against concrete and Time
Over 100 emergency personnel fought through a dangerous waste field. Unstable structural elements, dust and concrete severely hampered rescue efforts. In some places, rescuers had to dig with bare hands to reach those buried under the ruins.
At first, there was a spark of hope: A 45-year-old man was rescued after about 90 minutes, seriously injured. He suffered severe head injuries, broken arms, and serious spinal damage. He was taken to a hospital trauma center, as Daniel Melcher of Vienna's Professional Rescue Service stated.
For others, however, help came too late: The four construction workers were buried in concrete and died at the scene.

Winchi's operator was forced to see everything
Also dramatic: An operator vinci became an involuntary witness to the accident. He was supposed to stay in his cabin and watch the events from above. He was questioned by the police until the evening.
The reason the structure collapsed suddenly is currently unclear. Police and labour inspectors are investigating intensively. Numerous witnesses are being questioned, including the crane operator.
Otherwise, the first information is about three dead workers from Kosovo and one from Bosnia. Sami Lushtaku, the chairman of Skyright, confirmed that one of the victims is from Down Below Klin.
