Jiri Plecity, representative of the European Commission, made that known during a debate for the report on Kosovo that was conducted in the European Parliament.
“I can confirm that the European Commission has released all financial assistance that was previously under measure and we are also planning to re-age fully with our counterparts in Kosovo in order to get Kosovo back on track on its EU agenda...”, Jiri Plecity said.
The full declaration where Plecity speaks of removing all financial measures against Kosovo can be seen in the following video.
Plecity also spoke of Kosovo's EU application, the integration process and other issues.
Otherwise, the EU had imposed punitive measures against Kosovo in 2023, suspending financing and bilateral meetings between European officials and those of the Government of Kosovo.
These measures were imposed following tensions in Kosovo's majority Serb municipalities, as Albanian mayors were at the helm of municipalities.
The first few months had begun the gradual departure of these measures, and today their complete departure was confirmed.
This evacuation of measures comes only days after the EU's envoy for Kosovo-Serb dialogue, Peter Sorensen, was in Kosovo.
Sorensen was in Kosovo on Saturday regarding the Law for Foreigners, where, after meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kuri, they were said to have agreed that this law would start to implement, but with some additional measures, as it affects the Serb community in Kosovo. /Telegrapher
