Trump, speaking at an event at the White House on Monday, said he had talked to Macroni, giving him the mark “8 out of 10” for his stance regarding the involvement of allies for unlocking the Hormuz Strait and suggested that Macron would join US-backed efforts.
“We are not parties in the conflict and for this reason France will never take part in operations on opening or releasing the Hormuz Strait in the current context”, Macron said at the start of a government meeting to discuss the conflicts in the Middle East, Reuters wrote.
French officials have said France is continuing efforts to establish a coalition to ensure Hormuz Strait after the security situation is stabilised and without a US role.
“We are convinced that once the situation calms down and deliberately uses this term after the situation calms down, so once the major bombings have ceased, we are ready, along with other countries, to take responsibility for the stream system”, Macron said.
