The case in Lipjan, QPS takes care of other children of the arrested couple

The director of the Centre for Social Affairs in Lipjan, Makfirete Shamlli, said the institution acted according to legal competencies by immediately interfering in cases where there was danger for children.

She stressed that emergency safeguards have been taken, including temporary departure from the family, based on professional assessment and the best interest of children.

The Centre for Social Work has acted in accordance with its legal competencies and the mandate for the welfare and security of children by interfering without delay in the situation where the immediate risk for child development and integrity is estimated. At the same time, measures have been taken, including the provisional departure of children from the family, have been implemented as emergency safeguards. And normally based on professional evaluation, multidisciplinary, always considering the best interest of children”, she said.

Asked about the situation of the 5-year-old who is being treated at KKUK and how many social employees have visited, Shamll said that the Centre for Social Work intervenes in emergency cases according to protocols and provides protection for children through custody that includes not only housing but constant supervision, visits and care to ensure proper treatment according to their needs.

“Of course it is, namely, the Centre for Social Work only at the moment, namely emergency intervention, as required in the social service protocol, normally meaning that it has received forms of protection such as custody and, in fact, other than housing, custody means oversight, visits, and interest at all stages - that is, for all children, and that is to ensure responsible treatment of the children's”, she stated.

Shamlli, not showing how many other children the QPS has taken over, said the investigative organs are being taken in case and cannot share more information.
