OEK said its proposals would contain price hikes.
“Seeing oil prices rise in Europe due to recent geopolitical developments, the Kosovo Economic Oda requires immediate fiscal intervention to protect businesses and citizens”, OEK wrote in a Facebook post.
Economic Oda proposed lowering the tax on excise for oil derivatives and provisional release or lowering the VAT rate for them.
“These measures would help lower prices, ease financial burden and stabilise the market. Similar measures have already been applied in several EU and regional countries to curb price hikes and protect citizens”, said the OEK post.
Kosovo's Economic Oda says that “is ready to provide its expertise for drafting fiscal policies that support economic development and market stability in the country”.
