Today, on the 28th anniversary of the Dukagjin Age, categories that emerged from the war organized sympathies to honour one of the most important events in our recent history.
On this occasion, they placed wreaths of flowers in the Dukagjin Operative Zone Witnesses' complex, praising this day with respect and pride: Gazmend Mehmetaj, Agron Mehmetaj and Hime Haradinaj.
The events of March 24, 1998, remain deeply carved into collective memory. On that day, Hilmi Haradinaj, along with his sons and fellow villagers, braved a triple siege by hundreds of Yugoslav forces. Their heroic stand is considered one of the most powerful evidence of determination for freedom, dignity, and protection of the homeland.
Also, this date relates to a key moment of Kosovo's modern history. On March 24, 1999, NATO intervened to end a major injustice against the people of Kosovo. This act continues to be remembered with deep gratitude as a decisive step toward freedom and liberation of the land.
Through these memorial activities, the importance of preserving historical memory and honoring the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for freedom was renewed.
