FBI investigates Trump ally who resigned because of Iran's war

“Federal Bureau of Investment” (FBI) is investigating whether this week Joe Kent, who resigned from the post of a senior anti-terrorism official in protest of the war against Iran, has illegally distributed confidential information, a well-known person said Wednesday. The investigation was launched before the resignation [...]
The investigation was launched prior to Kent's resignation Tuesday by the post of director of the National Centre for the Fight Against Terrorism of the American Government, according to the same source, which spoke on condition of anonymity because the FBI investigation is still under way.
The investigation is under way at a time when the US Department of Justice has launched several processes against US President Donald Trump's political opponents, including former FBI Director James Comey and New York General Prosecutor Lettia James.
Prosecutors have often faced difficulties in upholding charges in court because of judges' decisions, sometimes even to ensure the establishment of charges, writes newyortee.
Additional details on the exact focus of the investigation, which Semafor reported first, were not immediately available.
Kent announced his resignation from office in administration through a statement on the social X network, where he expressed concern about the rationalisation of the military attacks on Iran and said “cannot support the fight against Iran with a clear conscience.
<x0-Iran did not present an immediate threat to our country, and it is clear that we have started this war because of pressure from Israel and its powerful lobby in the US”, Kent wrote.
Trump later told reporters that he had always considered Kent “weak in security issues” and added that, if anyone in his administration does not believe Iran poses a threat, “we do not love those people”.
Other Trump administration officials, including CIA Director John Ratclife, have already distanced from Kent and its assessments.
On Wednesday evening, Kent was left with a voice message through his former campaign manager, with a request for comments. /Periscope
