The current electricity tariffs will remain in force during the month of April, while new tariffs are expected to take effect on May 1st”, Feyzullah told Radio Free Europe.
The ZERE makes annual review and definition of electricity tariffs, which are usually announced on April 1st and are worth until 31st of the following year.
The three energy operators in Kosovo, in January of this year, have called for increased electricity tariffs for 2026.
The electricity price hike has been requested by the operator for Electric Energy Supply (KESCO), System, Transition and Market Operator (KOSTT) and the Electricity Distributation Company in Kosovo (KEDS).
K E SCO has urged more than 20 per cent of electricity tariffs for 2026, but by ZRRE, there is still no figure of how much price growth would be.
For increasing this percentage, K ESCO has been called to the large amount of electricity import.
Also, the Kosovo Energy Corporation, (KEK), says the application, has seen the continuation of the rehabilitation projects of the generation units -- this time at the Kosovo B thermal power plant, the B1 unit -- with a planned length of about eight months, compared to five months in 2025 for the B2 unit.
This situation, according to KESCO, is expected to limit local production and increase dependence on import.
Another reason in the document is cited in the Kosovo government's raise in the minimum wage.
ZERE officials, in January of this year, have told Radio Free Europe that the “requirements will be submitted to review and that only the costs deemed reasonable will be approved”.
According to application submitted to Z RRE, KESCO has demanded that maximum access for next year be 528.78m euros.
Last year, K ESCO had demanded maximum access of around 448m euros, while Z. The RRE had approved about 436m euros.
Meanwhile, KEDS has demanded 235m euros or 21m euros more than last year's initial request, which was 214m euros. And last year, Z. The RRE had approved this inflow of 180.653m euros.
While COSTT's request, which said it aims to provide better quality services to consumers, is more than 99m euros, up from about 102m euros last year. Early year, Z. The RRE had approved this inflow of 88m euros.
Last year, Z The RRE had approved tariff increases of 16.1 percent compared to the previous year.
According to current tariffs, consumers who spend up to 800 kilowatts per hour monthly pay 9.05 cents per kilowatt, while those who spend on this threshold pay 15.43 cents per kilowatt.
Free fees used at night between 11:00 and 0800 a.m., consumers for a kilowatt pay 3.88 cents for those who spend up to 800 kilowatts.
Meanwhile, those who spend more than 800 kilowatt pay 7.28 cents per kilowatt.
