In line with the Law on Declaration, Obligation and Control of Riches and Gifts, all official persons in the Republic of Kosovo were obliged to carry out the property declaration by 31 March.
From the Corruption Prevention Agency, yesterday, it was yesterday that the considerable number of them have not yet done so.
According to the APK, even 1,000 and 195 public officials have not completed this obligation but have begun it and are in the process of declaring it, while 901 public officials have not yet started it.
The Agency for Prevention of Corruption had indicated that indiscretion, delay or incorrect declaration of property constitutes violations of legal obligations and sanctions with fines, criminal charges and other measures, while in certain cases prison sentences and seizures of undeclared property can be pronounced.
“The Agency for Prevention of Corruption urges all public officials to fulfill the legal obligation to declare property within the set term. Transparency is not only the legal obligation but constitutes the foundation of civic trust and institutional integrity. Therefore, it is important that each, under his responsibilities, contribute to a more open and responsible administration”, the APK Director Yll Buleskaj stressed.
Among the declarative subjects for wealth statements are doctors and professors this year.
According to the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, these categories are included in the registry of declarative subjects and subject to the same legal deadline for statements. /Periscope
