The cable crash at Switzerland's ski resort, one person dies

A person has died after a cable chair at a Swiss ski resort collapsed on a snowy mountainside during strong winds Wednesday.

A police spokesman told reporters that one person suffered fatal injuries, though the exact cause of death had not been confirmed.

The person whose identity was not found was the only person in the gondola, police said, Reuters reports.

A helicopter was sent to the scene at the airport ski resort of Engelberg in central Switzerland, Rega air rescue service said.
