Wide inspection of institutions: Over 100 subjects under audit for pesticide registration

The Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, along with Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, and the Ministry of Industry, Enterprise and Trade, have launched a joint inspection regarding the import, trade and use of chemicals, biocides and pesticides, with full focus on protecting public health, food security, animals and the environment.

According to the official report, following information received by the MBPZHR, it has been found that several operators have misused the registration system by presenting pesticides as biocides, including substances forbidden by international directives.

For this reason, institutions have taken concrete and irreversible measures, in line with European standards”, the announcement said.

As of now, based on the official announcement, internal study has been initiated for over 100 subjects; import, distribution and use of dangerous substances have been banned; punishment measures on the ground have been undertaken against any violator, indiscriminately; interintential co-ordination has increased for full law enforcement; working groups have been created to formulate new acts and regulations; capital decisions have been abolished, which were contrary to the law, and a significant amount of chemicals seized, unable to release them into the market.

The message is clear: no one is above the law and no practice that endangers people, animals or the environment will be tolerated”, the MPMPHI report said.
