Baton Kelmendi, one of the surgeons involved, has come up with a public explanation on his Facebook.

After publishing the video of the incident a few weeks ago, I feel a moral obligation to express my deep regret over the entire situation.

As seen at the scene, I've been on the phone and suddenly I've faced an unexpected attack. The incident occurred, two days after we had a professional debate at Clinical College, the debate over issues related to the patient's best treatment and interest, writes Dr. Kelmendi.

He says his reaction has been in self-defense.

I haven't attacked anyone and tried to avoid escalation of the” situation, the doctor writes.

However, I regret that such a situation has occurred and that images may have disturbed patients, colleagues and public opinion”, he says.
