NASA could postpone its mission to send astronauts to the moon for the first time in more than half a century after discovering a missile defect.
Artemis II is scheduled to leave the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida since March.
However, NASA found that the flow of helium which is necessary for launching rockets was interrupted during a key part of the preparation process.
A spokesman for NASA said: “This will almost certainly affect starting in March”.
Ahead of the hurdle, the agency had announced it was targeting March 6th to send astronauts around the moon.
The crew includes three American astronauts, Reid Wissman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch and Canadian Jeremy Hansen, reports Telegraph, broadcast Periscope.
They would become the first astronauts ever to fly toward the moon since Apollo 17 in 1972 and make the most distant human space flight ever.
However, there are no plans for the mission to land on the lunar surface. /Periscope
