Over 5,000 cigarettes in Brnjak

Kosovo police have conducted an operation in the Brnjak border area, following information about doubts about smuggling goods.
According to police, during the operation undertaken in co-ordination with the Constitutional Prosecutor in Mitrovica, police officials have located a type vehicle “Audi” with foreign license plates, which was banned and without drivers. The vehicle was allegedly used for smuggling with goods.
During the search of an object and its surrounding area, police have found and seized a total of 5 thousand and 550 cigarette boxers of various types. In addition, 19 packs of cigarettes, suspected of smuggling, have been found near the facility.
In connection with the case, a person was interviewed in the quality of the witness and later released in regular procedure.
A truck with foreign license plates was also banned during the operation, carrying metal materials. According to police, the truck leader did not own relevant documentation for these materials.
All actions have been undertaken in co-ordination with the caretaker prosecutor, while Kosovo Customs has seized goods and two vehicles for further procedures.
With the State Prosecutor's permission, the case has been passed to Kosovo Customs for treatment.
