Prosecutor at Ferizaj launches investigation into vote manipulation

The Constitutional Prosecutor in Ferizaj has announced that he has launched investigations into allegations of misuse of votes during the counting process for parliamentary elections, in municipalities that are under the territorial competence of this prosecutor.

According to the official announcement, on January 22nd, 2026 the prosecution has authorised the Kosovo Police to undertake all investigative actions, with the aim of providing relevant evidence and identifying persons responsible for possible manipulation of votes for candidates for the Republika Kosovo Assembly MP.

Following investigative actions and co-ordinating meetings between the Kosovo State Prosecutor and Police, as well as the acceptance of initial reports, the prosecution has indicated that in Ferizaj's municipality, out of 153 locations involved in the report, abuses have been low. In all, only one candidate has had a seven-vote raise, while additional candidates have registered additions of one to three votes.

Even in Elez Han's municipality, the percentage of consistent manipulations is low and comparable to that of Ferizaj.

Meanwhile, manipulations at three polling stations have been calculated in the area of the Entrance, with a higher percentage of voter increase. According to the report, additions ranging from ten to 45 votes are registered for three candidates.

In terms of these cases, the Prosecution has authorised the Kosovo Police to interview leaders of the counting centres in Ferizaj and Elez's Han, as well as commissioners and leaders in the quality of suspects in the Shtime municipality.

As for the municipalities of Kachanic and Shrpca, the prosecution has indicated that it is still pending final reports by the Kosovo Police.

The founding prosecutor at Ferizaj has stressed that the investigations will continue in regular procedure until interviewing all suspects, unless new circumstances are presented that require additional investigative actions.

In the end, the prosecution has reiterated its commitment to the protection of citizens' free vote and the preservation of the integrity of the election process, stressing that any suspected case will be handled in accordance with the law.
