NATO responds to Serbia complaining about Croatia, Albania's military link to Kosovo

It has said Croatia and Albania are reliable NATO allies and contributing to regional stability.

“Albania and Croatia are not only reliable and valuable allies within the Alliance. They are also important contributors to regional peace and stability. They are present in KFOR, but in general are very focused on supporting this agenda in the region”, Sekerinska has said.

The top NATO official has also indicated that NATO is not involved in these discussions between Croatia, Albania and Kosovo, and that being a NATO member is not an obstacle to an ally state making other third-party defence agreements.

What we see in general is that, of course, the global geopolitical situation has also affected the region. You see more exercise, more defence and security investments, but we always call on allies and partners to engage in political dialogue and resolution of the remaining issues in the region. Our presence in the Western Balkans aims to support this kind of political dialogue”, Sekerinska said.

Days earlier, official Belgrade has reacted to agreement and meetings between Croatia, Albania and Kosovo, portraying such a development as a threat to Serbia.
