MPs from the Northern Macedonia Assembly have submitted the proposal-result parliamentary procedure today for respecting standards of regular legal process in international judgment against former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders.
So has the Democratic Union for Integration announced through a Facebook post.
As noted in the announcement, this resolution relies on constitutional principles and international standards of justice, reaffirming commitment to the rule of law, independence of the judiciary and full respect of basic human rights, as defined by the European Convention on Human Rights, the International Pact for Civil and Political Rights, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. By this parliamentary initiative, it requires that the judicial processes under way near Kosovo's Specialised Chambers develop in full compliance with the highest international standards, guaranteeing innocence, effective protection and trial within a reasonable term for all accused.
“Resoluta, among other things, praises the contribution of the institutional leaders and members of Kosovo's liberation war to the region's peace, stability and Euro-Atlantic integration processes, stressing that international justice should be impartial, professional and independent of any political influence”, the report said.
DUI also indicated that signatories have called on all MPs in the Parliament, without political affiliation, to join this initiative and support Resolution by vote, in the function of strengthening universal principles of justice and consistent respect of international standards for a fair and impartial process. /Periscope
