MP John speaks of protest: Police attacked PD headquarters

Democratic Party MP Djind Johni commented on developments in the February 20th protest. He criticised the way the situation was managed by authorities, considering this a challenge to citizens' constitutional rights to protest without hindrance. John said the DP headquarters was attacked by police during the protest, stressing that [...]
The “The case yesterday clearly shows that attacking the main headquarters of a democratic party when people are gathered inside the headquarters, this is a crime. It's a crime for a very simple reason: through provocation and conduct of police forces in this form, police forces that should be depoliticised and be in defense of security and community service, it turns out that they are fearing a conflict situation between the two major political forces. Because if the Democratic Party headquarters is attacked, so can Democratic Party lovers and go and attack him. Furthermore, today the state police are not depoliticised police; they are filled with party militants, and cases show that this situation creates needless flexibility and tension”, he said, Euronews.al, broadcast Periscopi.
John said such conduct by police increases tension between political forces and undermines citizens' constitutional right to protest. The MP said that part of the protesters, including minors and people who had no direct connection with the events, were accompanied by commissioners.
By the information we have, about yesterday, there were about 43 escorts. It turns out that some of them have been released for lack of evidence but also because of their sociality, including random people crossing the street. Even yesterday at the station, three of them even put a pizzaman in. It's unacceptable, but on the other hand, there's a lot of associated minors. The past protest had about seven to eight people, aged 14-17, and yesterday as well. I see an objective on the part of the police in terms of associate persons; in general, they're target areas of majority Democrats, in order to pressure and not allow their appearance in the upcoming protests. In the concrete case of Commissioner three, I was present, and I see many people in custody without evidence. Imagine those accompanied by Lezha, the chairman of Kruja PD and people who legally moved to the streets have all been brought to the commissioners without cause. This clearly shows that police are politicised and do not respect the legal framework”, he said.
