Thames Valley police have issued a statement saying:

As part of the investigation, today (19/2) we have arrested a man in his 60s from Norfolk, suspected of abuse of public office, and we are conducting checkups on the addresses in Berkeley and Norfolk.

The man is currently in police custody.

We will not publicize the name of those arrested, in accordance with national guidelines. Please also keep in mind that this issue is now active, so care should be made with any publication to avoid violating the judicial process,

Deputy Police Director Oliver Wright said: “after a full assessment, we have already opened an investigation into this claim of abuse of office in public office.

It is important to protect the integrity and objective of our investigation while working with partners to investigate this alleged criminal act.

We understand the great public interest in this issue and will give updates at the right time.
