His speech has started with congratulations on all Albanians, the anniversary of their proclamation of independence.
For almost three years in this room you've heard the prosecution's charges. You've also heard the truth. It's just one truth. I am completely innocent”, Thaci said.
At the time of the massacres in early 1998, I was a student in Zurich. I wasn't planning on how to take control of Kosovo, the only man who was making Morbide plans was Slobodan Milosevic”.
Looking at the massacres in my decision cannot stay indifferent, I decided to come to Kosovo. And what each of you would do. For whom I am proud, and I never regret it. It's an insult to the memory of heroes and thousands of victims. It is insulting and for the NATO efforts we co-operated with”, Thaci added.
According to Thaci, his only opponent and The KLA was the Milosevic regime.
I wasn't sure if I'd ever see my family again, let alone exercising control. I returned home to risk my life for freedom. Control and power were in the hands of Slobodan Milosevic”, he concluded.
