Girls from Brazil and China disguised their activity as tourism, arrested 118 women for prostitution

These foreign citizens, including from Brazil, China, Thailand and other states, disguised illegal activity as tourism, distributing tourist destination information as an excuse for staying in Albania.

At the beginning of this year, State Police have uncovered nine cases of developing prostitution activity in different cities of Albania, where these citizens, coming in with tourist purposes, were involved in prostitution networks. Illegal activity, mainly online, has used pages and platforms to advertise services, displaying pictures and contact numbers of girls.

Another channel where this activity has continued is the social telegram network, where public groups serve to recruit girls and communicate with those seeking sexual services.

Girls are often seduced by promises of high paying or are victims of international trafficking networks of human beings.

In a recent case, in October of last year, Tirana Police, in collaboration with international authorities such as EUROOPOL, EUROJUST, Croatian Police and Columbia National Police, uncovered an international prostitution network involving 48 women and girls from countries in Latin America and Central Asia.

They were trafficked and exploited for prostitution in Albania, confirming the phenomenon is closely linked to international crime networks.

This operation is part of the State Police's efforts to fight organised crime and illegal activities that foreign citizens exploit, forcing them to get involved in prostitution or trafficking in Albania./Periscopi/
