German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the opening of the Munich Security Conference has declared that they must reopen a new strategy for how to draw countries closer to the European Union.
That statement came after being asked by Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic for the role of enlargement in the future of the EU.
I feel increasingly disappointed with our approach to your countries,” added Merz.
He also said they have promised EU membership for many countries, especially in the Western Balkans.
I don't want to lose you. You are part of the European continent and therefore potentially part of the EU”, he added.
Merz expressed his desire to open more chapters from countries and to draw the Western Balkan countries closer and closer to the European Union as members.
