They fired the journalist who refused to read the laudable text for Basha, RTK exits with clarification notice

Kosovo Radio Television has come up with a clarification concerning the expiration of journalists' labour contracts, Edita Avdiu and Hannah Martheti.

According to the announcement, RTK says it's not about breaking the contract, but about not continuing them after the deadline is expired.

“contacts in question have been in set term and have completed in full compliance with the specified deadline and with legal provisions in force. In this case it's not about breaking off labour contracts, but not following after the deadline is set”, the RTK Directorate says.

RTK explains that there is a fundamental legal difference between the execution of the contract according to legal power and the separation or interruption of the contract from the employer.

This distinction constitutes the basic concept of labour rights and is known in judicial and judicial practice. The failure to continue these contracts is made within the framework of regular administrative and management procedures, on the basis of domestic professional assessments of the news room, without any influence or interference from the outside. Otherwise, journalist Avdiu reacted to her social network yesterday, accusing the management of failing to continue the contract because, as she says, she refused to become a power tool.

Even journalist Hannah Martheti has suggested she will follow all legal ways to seek clarification and justice, remaining steadfast in her commitment to independent and ethical journalism.
