Former Norwegian Prime Minister Thorbjén Jagland is reported to have been admitted to the hospital, following an alleged suicide attempt amid allegations of corruption linked to his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Development came days after Jagland was officially charged with heavy corruption, which carries a possible sentence of 10 years in prison.

He has denied committing any violations, describing his ties with Epstein as reckless “ ” or poor “prejudice” and pledging full co-operation with the investigation.

According to social media reports, the Norwegian Editors' Association reportedly agreed with Jagland's lawyer not to cover up the incident, which occurred last week.

However, some media, including the BRICS News platform, published the news, citing the former prime minister's serious situation.

Jagland served as Norway's prime minister from 1996 to 1997.

His ties to Epstein came out of US Justice Department files, showing that Jagland and his family visited Epstein's property in Paris, New York and Palm Beach.

Epstein reportedly called for Jagland's help to organise meetings with high profile figures, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, and to promote financial schemes./Periscopi/
