ASS: Prices in January rose 5.8% compared to last year

According to data from the Kosovo Statistics Agency, the harmonised Consumer Prices Index (IHÇK) results in more expensive spending and services, with direct impact on the cost of living.

ASSIt points out that annual inflation has been driven mainly by increased flights' prices of 50.4 percent, water supply and services related to 44.4 percent, solid fuels such as firewood and diapers by 17.2 percent, electricity at 16.7 percent, trees at 15.5 percent, maintenance and repair of personal transportation equipment by 15.1 percent, personal transportation services at 14.5 percent, organised vacations with 13.5 percent, meat at 13.1 percent, coffee, and 10 percent.

According to the AKS, the increase is also noted in milk, cheese and eggs, hotel services, ambulance services, alcoholic beverages, goods and services for maintenance of the home economy, fish, personal care, sweet products, tools, and garden and equipment, bread and cereals, oils and fats, tobacco, clothing, vegetables and shoes, while the combined impact of these subgroups in IHK is estimated at 6.2 percent.

At the same time, prices have been noted in fuel and lubricants for personal transport equipment, with 7.3 percent less, having a negative impact of 0.4 percent on the index.

Meanwhile, 1.2 percent monthly inflation in January 2026, according to the AKS, has been explained mainly with the rise in flight ticket prices of 42.1 percent, water supply and residential services by 41.4 percent, solid fuels at 4.6 percent, vegetables at 4.2 percent, recreative and garden equipment at 1.5 percent, electricity at 1.5 percent, alcoholic beverages and 0.7 percent, with a combined impact of 1.4 per cent in IHCH, while the price reductions and transports are again marked, affecting 3.2 per cent per cent of the individual index./Periscopi/
